Day 33 - Milwaukee to Muskegon, MI

- in EST
- in Michigan
- over 2500 miles for trip
- first time in an American Legion Hall

Only 25 miles today in Milwaukee and Muskegon - but will call it a day on the road!

Rode the city streets of Milwaukee south to a bike store for chamois 'butt'r' and to the ferry dock. Rode past the upscale condo section of Milwaukee - very impressive neighborhood with small parks and lots of grass.

Really excited about the ferry ride, and it was really a great experience. Lake Michigan is enormous. Ferry ride was wonderful - so relaxing.

Sat with Thomas Mach for much of the trip, a German fellow doing the San Francisco to Boston route.

Muskegon has a great harbor and lots of sandy beaches. I ride downtown to see what's happening with motorcycle week-end - lots of bikes, people, vendors, impromptu bars. Pretty exciting. I was the only biker in town wearing spandex !!

Only place to eat within walking distance is American Legion Hall. Conversation was so good I stayed for a second glass of wine. At $2.00 each I figured I could fit it into my trip budget !!

It was great to have minimal miles the past two days and have some relaxing time to explore.

To Hastings on Saturday and a Warmshowers location, and also map out a route so I can stay with high school friend Dennis J in Cleveland suburbs.

  1. Frank - looking good in that spandex! Can't believe you are already over a month into your trip. What a great experience - good luck on the rest of it.
