Day 1 - June 17

Head out of Capitol Hill about 8:45. Short ride today - check-out day, first time I ride with my full load of gear - bike and gear weigh 55 pounds.

Easy going out 23rd Ave, thru bike tunnel and on to I-90 bike lane. Just cruising. All simple until I get past Bellevue and the alternative to I-90 riding. Bike path weaves thru neighborhoods to get to the other side of Issaquah. Issaquah to North Bend is really pretty over the Falls City hills. The bike route map categorizes about six miles of this section as steep grade - just find the right gear and stay with the pace!!

Issaquah, Falls City, Snoqualmie Falls, and into North Bend - really beautiful riding.

Check out the photo of the moss-laden section of bike trail - very impressive.

Hard to believe, but these towns are all somewhat booming suburbs of Seattle. Check out the picture of the mountain back-drop of North Bend - the inspiration for the Twin Peaks TV show.

Feeling great - tomorrow starts with 25+ miles continuously up and over Snoqualmie Pass !! Really looking forward to it.
