Mollepata to Salcantay Lodge

After leaving Mollepata we drive to the Marcoccasa area to start hiking. Breathtaking views as we follow a water channel built originally in the 1500's to irrigate farm fields. Villagers from the whole region do "community service" by maintaing the channel.

As you can see in the pictures, horses and mules are used to transport materials up to Soraypampa Valley and the Rio Blanco.

We arrive at Salcantay Lodge at 5:45 with the setting sun framing 21,000 foot Salcantay Peak.

Breathtaking!!
